The Westminster Shorter Catechism
In final preparation for ordination in the Presbyterian Church in America I was required to translate a portion of God's Word from the original language. I chose a short passage from the incredibly rich and glorious Gospel of John. The fruit of those studies led me to entitle the paper: The Gospel of Truth. Since that time my understanding of Jesus' words in verse thirty-two of chapter eight have been the foundation for my preaching ministry:
"You shall know the correct doctrine and that truth shall set you free from sin."
In the providence of God's time and with the encouragement of our Church Session, I have been allowed to focus my heart on the essential doctrines of the faith in this series on our beloved Westminster Shorter Catechism with which generations of our children have been imbued in the fundamentals of the Reformation.
